The Gospel of Matthew begins with Jesus' genealogy. The women named there are "surprising," for they don’t seem to fit our cultural assumptions around the origins of greatness. Our Advent sermon series, "What is She Doing Here?" will explore what this meant for Jesus and us today. This Sunday, we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent. We will begin by looking at the lives of Tamar & Rahab.
