Outreach Ministries
We believe that being actively engaged in our community is essential to our faith, and are active in a variety of ministries throughout our community and around the world. Annually, we also expose youth and adults to mission opportunities around our country to expand our impact.
Below are some of the ministries currently supported by the church. To volunteer, check out our latest newsletters or contact the church office!
FEEDING MINISTRIES
New Hope Lunches
On the Third Monday of the month, Puyallup UMC members serve lunch for the guests of New Hope Resource Center.
Habitat for Humanity
Once a month, congregation members provide snacks for local volunteers at a Habitat for Humanity build site.
Food Bank Garden
Puyallup UMC plants and harvest a garden each year. Produce is given to local area food banks for distribution.
CARING MINISTRIES
Care Team
Members of Puyallup UMC are deployed to visit, call, and/or send cards to members who are home-bound, recovering from surgery, or need a friend in faith.
Prayer Shawls
A variety of members crochet or knit prayer shawls for our community. Shawls are given to people both within the church and in our wider community who are having a difficult time. The shawl is a physical reminder that people care about and are praying for them.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
School Partnerships
Puyallup UMC has a partnership with Waller Road Elementary & Aylen Junior High. As a partner, the church supports the work of the school through financial gifts, donations, and volunteers.
Conference Quilters
Every Tuesday, members of the Conference Quilters gather to design and sew quilts. Each year the quilts are blessed and brought to the area meeting of the larger denomination to be distributed to non-profits throughout the state.
Oasis Youth Center
Our church partners with the Oasis Youth Center in Tacoma to serve and support LGBTQ youth across the South Puget Sound region.
International MINISTRIES
Missionary Support
Each year, our congregation partners with Katherine Parker, a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. Parker serves as a Health and Community Transformation Advisor with the United Mission to Nepal (UMN). For more details on her ministry click here.
PlayCare
Through the mission and outreach ministries of Puyallup United Methodist Church, Puyallup Playcare Center began in 1968. While now a separate entity, Playcare and the church continue to share church facilities during the week. For more information, click here.
