In this week's message, Pastor Cara Scriven helps us to understand Jesus' Parable of the Wedding Feast, as found in Matthew 22:1-14. After we get past the hyperbole of the story, we can start to discern some of its meaning for us today as people seeking to offer, shape, and sustain authentically Christian community.

Light the Way - Sainthood

In a homily offered from her backyard on a snowy weekend, Pastor Cara Scriven reflects on a foundational teaching of Jesus' from Matthew 7:1-14. How do we keep ourselves from judging others, particularly in ways we don't evenly apply to ourselves? How can we see those who challenge our assumptions and preferences as opportunities to grow, and resist the chance that we'll do harm along the way?

Light the Way - Faith

This Sunday we continued to lake a look at Jesus’ teachings during the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:5-15) focusing especially upon his words on prayer.

Pastor Cara Scriven shares how an upcoming event in the life of The United Methodist Church is incorporating prayer, and how we can too easily fall into unhelpful patterns as we consider what prayer does.
